Cudillero in northern Spain’s Asturias and Cantabria region is one of Spain’s most beautiful villages. It is a small fishing port which has built up around an attractive bay on the Costa Verde – the Green Coast.
Its simple houses have been built up the hill-side around the bay and have all been painted in different colours. Its cobbled plaza is packed with bars and restaurants and is a wonderful place to sit and relax.
The fishing port is full of activity in the early evening as the fishing boats come in with their day’s catch.
If you fancy a bit of exercise walk up to the top of the village through the narrow winding streets for some great views over the bay or, stroll along the bay to the lighthouse.
Asturias and Cantabria is one of Spain’s smallest regions but is home to five of Spain’s most beautiful villages. The others to look out for are; Llanes, Mogrovejo, San Vincente de la Barquera and Santillana del Mar. With the exception of Mogrovejo which is a village in the lovely Picos de Europa mountains, these are all scattered along the lovely Costa Verde coastline.
