New England in Autumn

A holiday in New England is best made in the autumn. People from around the world visit New England to marvel over the beauty of the foliage at this time of year - from the end of August right up until October the leaves on the trees display a spectacular array of colours, so it is no surprise that autumn is one of the busiest tourist seasons in New England.

Even the television announces the best spots for spotting the most impressive leaf and colour changes – come to find out what all the fuss is about yourself and you too will be amazed by the beauty of the changing fall colours.

Being small does mean that New England accommodation can be rather hard to find during the autumn - nature's great display hasn't gone unnoticed and the region attracts a great deal of visitors at this time of year - so ideally you need to book your accommodation ahead of time. But this can be a problem...because you don't know in advance which will be the peak weeks to admire the colourful leaves at their best!

Typically the end of September and the first two weeks of October are the best time to see the leaves at their best. The north of the region tends to change before the south - the end of September is usually best for the north and towards the end of October for the south, but other factors such as the weather at the time and the weather during the preceeding months also play a role in the exact timing of the event.

If you are able, the best advice is to stay for as long as possible, hire a car so that you can travel to the most impressive locations, ask for local advice, and listen to the television announcements about the best places to rush off to during your visit.
