Rhodes is the largest Dodecanese Island, and the most eastern in the group. It is situated in the Aegean Sea just 20 kilometres from the south-western coast of Turkey.
The island has been inhabited since very ancient times, and is well known for at one time being the location of the Colossus of Rhodes – the colossus was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. (Note: the deer statues at Mandraki Harbor in Rhodes are a small reminder of the place where the Colossus once stood).

Be sure to visit the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes for more information and to see many local artefacts.
Som other popular sites with visitors and explorers of both Ancient and modern Rhodes include the Kallithea thermes spa; the Agios Archangelos; the Sianna village church; the Acropolis at Lindos, the ancient Olympic Stadium, the Roman style basilica (cathedral) and the sardens in Rhodes itself.
